Interactive Hematology Case Discussion with Dr. Dennis DeNicola

During this two-hour session, we will use actual clinical case material as a sounding board for an open discussion.  Where possible, we will include specific questions from the presenter but have an open forum for questions from the group as a whole.  A detailed dissection of the complete blood count (CBC) will be used to begin the conversation making sure that all of the components of the CBC are understood.  The value of the evaluation of the analyzer graphics (AKA cytograms) will be emphasized and how they should be used.  The case material will be primarily generated with the IDEXX ProCyte Dx; however, the interpretation of the data is applicable to all analyzer data generation.  There will be discussions on when a blood film microscopic evaluation MUST be performed and tricks/clues to how that evaluation should be performed to save time and maximize the blood film review value.
